Why This Idea?

Of all the ideas my husband and I have come up with over the years, why did we—more specifically, I—choose to pursue launching OrennaDAO? I'm a designer and problem-solver, but what soothes my soul is being out in nature, which makes me a nature lover above all. I've always taken an interest in Ben's work. We take a lot of road trips which are always filled with stories of restoration and harmony. I like expanding my understanding of how degraded ecosystems can be restored to a more balanced state, and which species can return and flourish there.

My design background means I notice things—the unfurling of a new blossom, the way sunlight illuminates the veins in a leaf. One of my hobbies is nature photography, and you'll see some of my work throughout this site. I also have a love of raptors and get excited when I see one in the sky. So yes, I'm that nature lover who stops mid-hike for both raptors and trash pickup.

OrennaDAO was born from a problem that didn't have a solution. Ben will dive deeper into this in another post, but here's what grabbed me: the premise of connecting land stewards to funding and beneficiaries in a simple and verifiable way. I knew I had to be part of building it.

How could I not want to make a difference? OrennaDAO's mission is in line with my value system and my heart. I get to problem-solve, design, and participate in a shared mission with my husband and co-founder. Sounds like a great day to me! I hope you'll share in that excitement as you explore what we're building.
